Why should I see a physiotherapist?
Physiotherapists are university qualified allied health professionals with the knowledge and skills to assess, analyse and treat to help you get the most out of life. They can assist you to recover from injury, reduce pain and stiffness, increase mobility and prevent further injury. They discuss your needs and tailor a treatment program specific to your condition and goals.
When should I see a physiotherapist?
If you are experiencing any pain or injury, or even wanting guidance on injury prevention, you may benefit from physiotherapy intervention. Physiotherapists provide safe and effective interventions including but not limited to joint mobilisations, exercise prescription, muscle re-education to improve control, soft tissue therapy, acupuncture and dry needling, and hydrotherapy. They are also experts in the prescription of equipment such as walking aids and their use.

What sort of treatments do physiotherapists use?
Prescription of home exercise programs targeted to your condition (land based and hydrotherapy based)
Joint mobilisations and manipulations for pain relief and increasing range of motion
Lymphoedema management which may include any or all of manual lymphatic drainage, compression garment / pump prescription, exercises, skin care, and education
Dry needling for pain relief and increasing range of movement
Cancer rehabilitation which may include breathing techniques, pilates based exercise programs, general exercise, fatigue management, cording and scar tissue management, and education.

What to expect for your physiotherapy appointment
For your first appointment with us, please ensure you have filled out the initial paperwork emailed to you. If you prefer to fill in a paper copy please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment.
Private – Your initial session will be 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on your condition/s. This will be followed by a subsequent appointment/s and plan determined by you and your physiotherapist.
DVA – 30 minute consults for initial and subsequent appointments. Your physiotherapist will determine your treatment plan with you in session
Medicare – 30 minute consults
Workcover – session time will vary depending on the condition/s or location (i.e. clinic, gym, hydrotherapy pool)
NDIS – typically 1 hour appointments, depending on the condition/s or location (clinic, gym, hydrotherapy pool or home)
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
Physiotherapists are first contact practitioners, meaning you do not need a referral to be reviewed by a physiotherapist. We do, however, accept referrals from GPs for Team Care Arrangements and DVA D904 referrals. Please do not hesitate to call our administrative team to discuss your available options.
